Adventure Racing:
One of the most respected national race series, the Big Blue Adventure offers an entire season of terrific events, culminating in the Tahoe Big Blue in September. Big Blue also hosts a series of trail runs and XTERRA Triathlons.
Run by North Idaho College Outdoor pursuits, Director John Totten and his staff of student interns and volunteers do a great job with this "sprint" length adventure race located somewhere in the CDA area. June 27, 2009.
This event is open to all levels of racers. It is a ‘sprint’ style race designed to be ‘doable’ for the 1st time racer yet, fun for seasoned veterans.
There are six divisions: Male, Female, Coed – 2 person or 4 person
What: The race consists of paddling (2 – 3 miles), trail running (4 – 6 miles), mountain biking (12 – 18 miles), basic navigation, and special challenges. The race will take a reasonably fit person 3 – 6 hours to complete. Also, this is a team race. All members of your team must complete the entire race.

12, 2009, this race has a great bike leg, a fun paddle and a pretty flat run in a 30ish mile loop. Located in Rathdrum, right outside CDA.
Rathdrum Mountain Adventure RaceSeptember

This race happened just outside of Missoula on April 18, and was an excellent event! Well organized, a great course, terrific volunteers, this 10 hour event was one of the best races to take place in the NW in a while!

> Flying Irish! - www.flyingirish.org - is one of our favorite clubs! Upto 200 runners of every age and ability gather at O' Dougherty's Pub in downtown Spokane every Thursday at 5:45, and then goes for a run through the city before settling in at OD's for refreshments, food and frivolities! They are active in many races both with teams, and with volunteers.. After 5 runs, you get to stand on the stage, tell a joke (preferably Irish!) and receive your coveted Flying Irish shirt!
> ROW Adventures www.rowadventures.com - is a rafting/boating/cycling tour operator out of CDA who put on first class events. They will be offering discounts to their tours to all ASW racers.
